A machine has now been created in the UAE that allows humidity in the air to be converted into water. Yes, you've read that correctly.

The futuristic process involves a multi-step process that uses technology to replicate the natural process of rain, filtration and mineralisation and thermal exchange condensation modules converts water from vapour into liquid state. The water passes through filters until it reaches the highest degree of purity.

The company behind this invention, Sky RIver, launched the product at Gitex 2016 but are exhibiting at Gulfood in the hope that the F&B industry will be interested in its technology.

The firm has launched three machines, for home, office and Industry.

Sky River's advisor to the CEO Gabriel Rusu spoke to Caterer Middle East at Gulfood 2017 and said: "The F&B industry and hotels are our ideal market. Our machines can produce upto 10,000 litres of water a day and without the hassle of recycling any plastic bottles. For the service industry we think this is a great innovationn."

"UAE has one of the world’s highest per capita consumption of bottled water of 285 liters per year. The water used to fill the bottles is mainly desalinated water, which costs approximately AED 11.8 billion annually. it takes around three litres of water in order to make one litre of bottled water, we are further encouraged to double our efforts to provide a viable alternative," Rusu added.
