Hong Kong-based luxury hotel operator, Langham Hotels is currently in talks to open a women-only resort in Doha, according to reports.

Langham Hotels CEO Robert Warman revealed to Arabian Business that the operator is in talks with a property owner in Doha about opening a resort exclusively for women.

“We’re looking at another resort, possibly in Doha. We think it’s very close and that we have a unique opportunity to run a female-only resort with the largest spa in the world,” he said.

"We think that could be a really unique positioning to bring a high level of service into what has traditionally probably not been the top tier segment."

The hotel operator also plans to expand further into the GCC market, with plans to build more hotels in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia and Oman.

“We know there’s going to be a Langham in Dubai, but it’s not out off the ground yet,” he added, though he did reveal that the chain might open as many as three in the same year.

Several other developments are expected to be completed by next year, including The Langham, Palm Jumeirah, originally due to open in 2015, as well as the Langham Place in Lusail, Qatar.

In Saudi, the 238-rooms, 41-suite Langham Jeddah, located in city’s downtown district, is also scheduled to open by the end of the year or early 2018.
