The Address Downtown Dubai will push ahead with a 2017 reopening, Emaar Properties chairman Mohamed Alabbar confirmed recently, Reuters reports.

The 63-storey Address Downtown Dubai, regarded as one of Emaar's luxury flagship properties, was engulfed by a fire during New Year's Eve 2015. Dubai police said that the fire was caused by an electrical short and resulted in a few minor injuries as the building was quickly evacuated, Hotelier Middle East previously reported.

Alabbar made the remarks regarding the hotel when speaking at an investment conference in Dubai recently. 

"We hope 2017 will be a better year. 2016 was tough for us," Alabbar said, according to Reuters
