Manchester hotels offer stranded victims refuge after attack

Sarakshi Rai, May 23rd, 2017

Manchester hotels helped shelter people after a reported explosion that killed 22 people and injured 59 during an Ariana Grande concert on Monday, according to local media.

The Victoria train station in Manchester was closed after the incident, and is expected to remain closed until Tuesday. Social media users have also been using the hashtag #RoomForManchester to offer help to people stranded after the incident.

The Premier Inn Manchester City Centre confirmed to Global News that it had taken in as many as 50 people on Monday night. A Holiday Inn spokesperson told The Independent that two of its hotels had worked together with police to help people after the attack.

The latest report from CNN confirmed that the death toll from the attack has been updated to 22 and it was carried out by a lone suspect carrying a bomb, Manchester Police said. Local media adds that, if this attack is confirmed as a terror incident, this would be the deadliest attack in Britain since the 2005 London bombings which killed 52 people.
