Oman's Jebel Akhdar to be 15 degrees cooler this summer

During the hottest time of the year in the Middle East, Oman’s Jebel Akhdar region will reportedly be 15 degrees cooler.

While it translates into “Green Mountain” in Arabic, Jebel Akhdar actually refers to an area that includes the Saiq Plateau, located 2000m above sea level. 

It is also part of Oman’s famous Al Hajar mountain range. Jebel Akhdar also sees temperatures drop down to as low as -5 degrees Celsius during December to March.

It boasts wadis and terraces where gardens and orchards grow fruits such as pomegranates and apricots thanks to rainfall in the winter season.

Hotels in the region include the popular Alila Jabal Akhdar, which overlooks views of the Al Hajar range. The Oman resort is a favorite among adventure travelers and nature lovers thanks to its sports entertainment and yoga sessions. Another popular hotel is Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar which boasts of being the highest five star resort in the Middle East.
