designMENA previews the newly opened Zahira restaurant, designed by TGP Design.
Located on the first floor of the H Hotel in Dubai, Zahira is a 140-seat restaurant with a dedicated lounge and cocktail bar – all set within an Arabesque-inspired décor, characterised by honey oak flooring and paneling and earthy interiors, which are accented with red and gold highlights.
“We have created a lounge and dining space that reflects the modern Middle East, avoiding overtly traditional design details and instead using warm, textural materials and finishes with bespoke lighting and furniture, mixing highlights of colour against neutral booths and banquettes,” said TGP design director, Jonathan Mangham.
ISG Middle East was appointed as the fit-out contractors and started the 12-week project at the begging of the year.
“We are absolutely delighted to continue our successful run with stunning, highly-specified F&B spaces, which we started with the fit-out of Olea and Noir at Kempinski Mall of the Emirates and award-winning Aji, the famous Peruvian-Japanese restaurant on The Palm and now Zahira, one of two fine dining destinations at the H Hotel, which ISG Middle East is delivering for this prestigious client,” says Steve Ramsden, managing director at ISG Middle East.
To boost the sustainable credentials for the project, the existing kitchen space was reused with the modification of the design, so that the new kitchen fit out and installations would require minimal demolition works.
Additionally, most of the fit out materials supplied by ISG Middle East for the project were sourced either locally or regionally.
The new modern Middle Eastern restaurant and lounge is headed by an award-winning Australian-Lebanese chef Greg Malouf.
