Michael Haddad, a paraplegic who is also a professional athlete, holder of three world records, motivational speaker, environmental advocate and social entrepreneur, delivered an inspiring talk to the associates of Marriott Hotel Al Jaddaf Dubai as part of the hotel's "Spirit to Serve" activities during the Holy Month.

“It’s not every day that we get to hear from such an inspiring person who has overcome the barriers of his disability and achieved remarkable milestones. Having Michael speaking to our associates, we hope our team continues to persevere in their lives with faith and a positive state of mind.” said  Marriott Hotel Al Jaddaf Dubai general manager Deepak Manocha.

At the age of six, Haddad suffered a spinal cord injury from a jet ski accident, which left him paralysed from the chest down.  He managed to transform his physical disability by channeling his personal beliefs of “turning disability into a distinctive ability” and “changing inefficiency to high performance”. In a collective effort to raise awareness on issues such as climate change, water pollution and marine life, and reforestation, Haddad has accomplished three world records in walking, climbing and snowshoeing in Lebanon’s extreme environments.

In his speech to the Marriott associates, Haddad shared a message of hope and faith, of inner strength and determination. Astounded by his story, the hotel associates absorbed his key message and philosophy to "love, live and give more, and to think beyond barriers".

Across the world, Marriott’s “Spirit to Serve” initiatives are aimed at investing in the communities where it does business backed by the volunteer service of the hotel associates. Situated in close proximity to Dubai's royal residence, Zabeel Palace, Marriott Hotel Al Jaddaf Dubai is part of the Marriott Hotels brand in Marriott International’s portfolio across the Middle East and Africa.
