Alejandro Bernabe ascends to VP ops role at Avani Hotels

Minor Hotels has promoted Alejandro Bernabé as vice president of operations, Avani Hotels & Resorts.

Bernabé joined Avani Hotels & Resorts as group director in January this year. He reports directly to Minor Hotels chief operating officer Robert Kunkler and is based at Minor Hotels regional office in Bangkok.

“We are expanding our current portfolio of 18 properties in 12 countries with more than 20 hotels in the pipeline in South East Asia, New Zealand, UAE, Australia, Maldives and Africa,” said Robert Kunkler, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels.

He added: “To support this growth, it is essential that we provide excellent operational leadership and support to our owners, hotels and partners. Alejandro is the ideal candidate to lead the brand together with our dynamic operations, sales and marketing teams.”

Bernabé is responsible for the operational and financial performance of Avani Hotels & Resorts and he will also be spearheading new developments and brand initiatives. 

A 20-year veteran of the industry, Bernabé – who started his hotel career in F&B in Switzerland - has worked across multiple disciplines and brands, including varied GM appointments. He has several bachelor degrees obtained in Spain and the USA, a hotel management degree from the Hotel Institute Montreux in Switzerland and a master of business administration from Reims Management School in France.
