Costa Coffee has successfully tested its drone delivery service in Dubai.

Following a survey that showed 82% of its UAE customers would like to receive drinks or beverages using the technology, the London-based brand undertook a one-day trial of its ‘coffee-copter’ in its Jumeirah Beach Road drive thru store.

Orders were made by phone and delivered to beach-goers with 15 minutes, according to the coffeehouse company. The refreshments were sent straight to customers using Costa's specially engineered drone.

Shemaine Jones, head of marketing at Costa Coffee UAE, said drones are the “next frontier for instant delivery”.

“Our customers told us they’d love to have their favourite drinks dropped off by drones, so we’re super excited to have successfully tested this service, enabling beach-goers to enjoy ice cold beverages without leaving the comfort of their sunloungers,” she said.

The drone delivery was a trial carried out by the company, with no exact details available yet as to whether it plans to introduce the service or not.
