IHG and AccorHotels tie for four titles each at Hotelier Awards 2017

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and AccorHotels picked up four awards each at the 13th annual Hotelier Middle East Awards held on October 25, 2017 at The Ritz-Carlton Dubai.

IHG's properties won the titles of HR & Training Person of the Year (Evangeline Monterde from InterContinental Muscat), Finance Person of the Year (Ahmed Amin El Sharkawy from InterContinental Al Jubail), Young Hotelier of the Year (Noura Al Boodai from Al Ahsa InterContinental), and Unsung Hero of the Year (Habib Aulad Thani from InterContinental Muscat).

Four categories were scooped by AccorHotels, three of which were from Fairmont Dubai: Peter Adel won Concierge/Guest Services Person of the Year; Satish Patil won Hotel Engineer of the Year; Ahmed Hashem took the title of Sales Person of the Year. The fourth AccorHotels' win was for Hotel Team of the Year, which went to Fairmont The Palm.

Marriott International saw success in two categories, with Nick Patmore, the director of food & beverage from JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, taking the title of F&B Manager of the Year, and Danielle Hammond, the spa & recreation manager of the Sheraton Dubai Mall of the Emirates, being named Fitness/Spa Person of the Year.

Jumeirah Beach Hotel's executive housekeeper Michele Millot was named Housekeeper of the Year, and the Jumeirah Group director of supply chain & logistics Nawaf Al Awadhi was Procurement Person of the Year.

Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts - Jordan took home a double whammy, with Marketing & PR Person of the Year going to cluster marketing and communications manager - Jordan Dima Jaradat, and IT Person of the Year going to Khalid Omari, the director of IT - Jordan.

Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates Dubai director of security Mahdi Juma Alwail Alsuwaidi nabbed the crown of Safety & Security Person of the Year, and Emaar Hospitality Group's Palace Downtown won one award with Executive Chef of the Year going to Steve Deconinck.

Meanwhile, the coveted GM of the Year award was given to Darren Darwin from Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort.
