Jumeirah Group director of supply chain and logistics Nawaf Al Awadhi was awarded the Procurement Person of the Year at the 2017 Hotelier Middle East Awards.

Al Awadhi’s cost reduction and negotiation techniques caught the jury’s attention. He joined Jumeirah Group in April 2016 as an assistant director of supply-chain and logistics and got promoted to director of supply-chain and logistics in June 2017.

Since Al Awadhi joined Jumeirah, he played a major role in the enhancement and the transition of the procurement department. His initiatives and contributions drove great success to Jumeirah by the way of simplifying/enhancing the procurement process, leveraging technology and driving great values and savings.

In the past seven years he has grown in both educational and career wise. He obtained his MBA in general management with a Cum Laude Merit and also obtained the major international certifications related to procurement.

He also succeeded in a very short time period to jump from a junior position to be a director of supply chain in one of the most prestigious organisations in Dubai while he is only 27 years old; this makes Al Awadhi one of the youngest procurement leaders in the region.

Unfortunately, Al Awadhi couldn’t make it to the awards ceremony as he was travelling, his award was collected on his behalf by colleague, Mohammed Kapital Al Bastaki, group vice president, supply chain and logistics, Jumeirah Group.

Al Bastaki said: “Al Awadhi plays a dynamic role in Jumeirah, he takes his job very seriously and is highly committed in supporting the operations. He’s worked really hard on earning special certifications such as his master’s degree and is also Chartered Institute of Procurement Supply (CIPS) certified.”
