Sheraton Oman makes new leadership appointments

Sheraton Oman Hotel welcomes three senior hospitality professionals, with the arrival of  marketing manager Sondos Omar, food & beverage director Panagiotis Mertekis and executive chef Soner Kesgin.

Omar joins Sheraton Oman Hotel as marketing manager, with over 12 years experience in hotel marketing. In her new role, Omar is tasked with developing brand initiatives, launching two outlets' campaigns and working with F&B marketing on promotions and PR campaigns. Sondos, who is from Egypt, is an experienced hotelier, having worked with Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Hyatt International.

Panagiotis Mertekis, director of food & beverage, brings with him over 20 years' experience. Prior to joining Sheraton Oman Hotel, Panagiotis served as a director with Marriott International for the past five years and has worked internationally during his career in The Netherlands, Greece, Jordan and now Oman.

Panagiotis has spearheaded retail catering projects and luxury cruise liner hospitality, moving into hotels with Starwood & Resorts and later, with Marriott International.

Soner Kesgin has been appointed to develop all five of the property's F&B outlets. Originally from Turkey, Kesgin was raised by a pastry master father and went on to study at the Mengen Anatolian Culinary School, where he became a master of Turkish cuisine.

Throughout his 18-year career, he has has worked in the USA, Turkey, Jordan and Egypt with hotel groups such as Kempinski, Wyndham and Sheraton.
