Balveer Balkissoon has joined Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers as the new executive chef.
The Mauritius native — who comes from a family who ran restaurants for generations — brings over 18 years of experience in the culinary industry to his new job.
When he’s not being a professional chef, Balkissoon says he likes to try different cuisines around the world.
“Every year, I took a month-long leave and set off to discover the cuisines of the world. I would train with local chefs and get exposed to culinary varieties. It is a beautiful thing when a career and passion come together, in my kitchen, I always mix a sense of energy and adventure,” said Balkissoon.
MövenpickJLT general manager Daniel Kaan said: “Chef Balveer’s skill and talent has already lead to significant changes during his first weeks with us. He wakes up with new ideas every day and his enthusiasm will play an integral part in elevating the experience of our guests.”
As executive chef, Balkissoon will oversee the hotel’s in-room dining, events and the three dining venues — Nosh restaurant, Crema and urban bar & kitchen.
