Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) has promoted Dr. Inès Blal — who has been teaching at the school for the past 11 years — to the position of executive dean.

Blal is the first woman and the youngest dean to occupy this position since the creation of the hospitality management school in 1893.

The new executive dean holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management in Hospitality and Tourism from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, an MBA in Hotel Management from EHL, and a Bachelor in International Business from the INSEEC Group.

According to a statement from EHL, the recent appointmeny demonstrates it's commitment to pioneering training that prepares tomorrow's managers for high-responsibility service jobs.

"With all the members of the deanship, we are committed to providing cutting-edge, high-quality education. Through this mission, we aim to strengthen the quality of our courses, stimulate our research and encourage innovative and effective teaching methods. In keeping with the pioneering spirit of EHL, we will continue to develop new programs that meet the needs of the industry in order to keep our institution at the forefront of the academic world," explained Dr. Inès Blal.

Since its opening, EHL has created a professional community of over 25,000 hospitality managers.
