Hotel occupancy has risen by 8.9% in Abu Dhabi in October compared to the same time period the year before as per EY’s October 2017 MENA hotel benchmark survey report, according to a report published by Arabian Business.

The report revealed that the average daily rate in Abu Dhabi rose to $128 (AED 470) in October 2017, compared to $125 (AED 459) in the same period in 2016, which resulted in a 14.1% increase in revenue per available room (RevPAR) compared to October last year.

However, in Dubai during the same period, the report said that there was a 2.4% decrease in the occupancy as well as a 6% drop in the average daily rate which then caused a drop of 8.7% in RevPar from $236 (AED 867) in October 2016 to $215 (AED 790) in October 2017.

In Saudi Arabia, the EY report showed an increase in occupancy of 13.9% in Makkah, 5.9% in Riyadh and 1.8% in Madinah but a 2.6% drop in Jeddah. But in regards to ADR, Jeddah showed a 7.6% increase but decreased by 6.9% in Makkah, 9.4% in Riyadh and 16.1% in in Madinah.

As for RevPar, Jeddah experienced a 2.7% increase, while Makkah saw a 33.2% increase, compared to a 0.6% decline in Riyadh and a 12.6% decrease in Madinah.
