Houston police arrested a man after they discovered multiple guns and large amounts of ammunition in his room at the Hyatt Regency Houston, according to a report published by the Houston Chronicle.

Hyatt’s staff notified authorities at 1:30 am on Sunday, December 31, 2017, to report a heavily intoxicated man at the hotel bar, the report said.

Houston police officers discovered an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, a handgun, a shotgun and “many rounds” of ammunition in the man’s room, the Chronicle report said.

After hours of investigating, police arrested 49-year-old Russell Lawrence Ziemba on charges of assaulting an officer and trespassing, the report said

Due to the incident, the security was tightened but the hotel continued with its New Year’s Eve festivities.

Hyatt officials held a 50,000-balloon drop at midnight from the top of a 33-story atrium and was attended by approximately by 2,000 guests, the Chronicle reported.
