InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has partnered with Global EVRT for the ‘Electric Vehicle Road Trip Middle East 2018’, starting on January 18 with an inaugural event at Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi – Yas Island.
The collaboration will install electrical vehicle charging stations across select IHG hotels in the Middle East, including Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi – Yas Island, Crowne Plaza Sohar, Crowne Plaza Muscat, InterContinental Muscat and InterContinental Fujairah Resort in the UAE. The road trip extends IHG’s support as the official hotel partner to Global EVRT in its efforts to promote adoption of electric vehicles as a sustainable method of transportation in the region.
Through this platform, and in partnership with IHG, Global EVRT will share the latest updates in the electric vehicle industry. Additionally, the Electric Vehicle Road Trip Middle East 2018 will visit and unveil a new electric vehicle 22kw fast charging station supplied by GreenParking at several IHG properties in the region, alongside e-mobility roundtable events and showcases.
These unveilings will bring the total number of electric vehicle charging stations at IHG hotels located in the Middle East to 10, including some of the first to open in Oman, and the first charging station in Sohar. IHG has installed over 100 charging stations at IHG hotels in the UK, Australia, New Zealand, China and Japan in the past six months, and is focusing on installations in the Middle East and Continental Europe in 2018.
The Electric Vehicle Road Trip Middle East is a nine-day electric vehicle road trip of more than 1,200km through two countries in the Middle East (UAE and Oman) in January 2018. The aim of the road trip is to demonstrate the capabilities of electric vehicles and to give people a first-hand experience of the technology.
