Brand View: Coffee Planet

Now in its 13th year, Coffee Planet has grown to become one of the largest speciality coffee vendors in the region. The brand consistently delivers a seamless and 360-degree approach to coffee solutions to ensure customers always receive the highest quality coffee they have come to know and expect.

The Coffee Planet team visits the best coffee farms around the world in order to ensure that they know exactly where the 100% Arabica beans are being sourced. As a result of this, the company has established strong relationships with farmers and producers in over 20 countries in Africa, Asia, Central and South America. Coffee Planet only buys speciality grade Arabica beans direct from the source to guarantee quality and a fair price.

Fair Trade is a key aspect of the brand’s philosophy. Coffee Planet managing director Robert Jones says: “Our Dubai-based roastery is UTZ certified which means that we keep a close eye on the traceability and sustainability of our directly-sourced coffee. We work in compliance with the UTZ programme, the world’s largest independent not-for-profit organisation for coffee. The aim of this is to help farmers grow better crops, generate more income and create better opportunities, as well as to safeguard the earth’s natural resources.”

In addition to the UTZ certification, Coffee Planet’s roastery is also certified to HACCP and Halal standards. Jones elaborates: “We are currently the only coffee roastery to hold all three of these accreditations. HACCP is the global standard of systematic preventative approaches to food safety during production and delivery to the end user. Coffee Planet has also been awarded Superbrand status for the past three years, which strengthens our position and reinforces to our customers that they are working with a brand they can trust.”

Jones believes that Coffee Planet represents a chance for its customers to reduce their impact on the environment: “It is beneficial for brands to work with local suppliers, where appropriate, to help sustainability. As a local coffee company, we can deliver our freshly roasted, 100% Arabica coffee quickly, with a reduced carbon footprint when we’re on the doorsteps of our clients and consumers.”

Coffee Planet products have proved popular with the foodservice and professional catering sectors.

“In addition to the quality of our beans we also specialise in providing the freshest coffee, which is available to our customers’ guests within days of being roasted.” Jones continues: “We find the combination of quality and freshness makes a tangible difference to the guest experience in hotels and restaurants.”

Coffee Planet provides all the elements needed to create great coffee including coffee machines and equipment, all coffee-related consumables, training for staff and machine maintenance.

In addition to an expansion that has seen its roastery facilities grow to 26,000 ft2, the brand is set to launch a new range called Coffee Planet Reserve. This range will introduce cold brew and nitro coffee to its existing specialty 100% Arabica foodservice portfolio. The Reserve range features speciality blends, expertly crafted from a selection of the company’s small batch single origin coffees sourced from Africa and the Americas.
