Jumeirah Restaurant Group bans plastic Jumeirah Restaurant Group bans plastic

Jumeirah Restaurant Group (JRG) will go entirely plastic free across all its operations starting March 18th, as part of its efforts to strengthen its commitment to the environment. The ban includes single-use plastic straws, swizzle sticks, stirrers and toothpicks across all its food and beverage outlets.

The news follows The Noodle House, which banned plastic straws and cutlery earlier this year in February. Now, JRG’s other outlets including Al Nafoorah, Pai Thai, Perry & Blackwelder’s, Trattoria Toscana, 360°, Segreto and The Agency are following suit by replacing all plastic with green alternatives.

On March 18th, which also marks ‘International Companies That Care Day’, The Noodle House is hosting its Plastic Amnesty Day where diners who bring unwanted takeaway plastic cutlery to any of its branches (excluding Dubai International Airport) will receive 50% off their total food bill.

JRG general manager Emma Banks says the initiative is part of taking their part of the responsibility in the world. “It is more important than ever that brands take responsibility for their part in creating a better world, and we are committed to phasing out plastic from all our operations as quickly as we can.”

“Removing plastic across our entire operation will see us playing our part in reducing the volume that is out there significantly damaging our environment and wildlife, which is something that must be taken into account all over the world,” Banks added.
