Hotel HR teams take note! UAE drops requirement for good conduct certificate

Sarakshi Rai, April 2nd, 2018

The UAE has dropped its plans for expats to obtain a certificate of good conduct before they are able to work in the country, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation said.

Arabian Business reports, The rule, which went into effect on February 4, mandated that a ‘good conduct and behaviour certificate’ must be issued be a job applicant’s home country or five-year country of residence. Once obtained, the rule called for the document to be attested by the UAE embassy in the applicant’s country of origin, or by the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs; a process similar to the procedure for marriage certificates and education qualifications.

No further details were given on the decision.
