How long have you been in purchasing?

It’s been an amazing journey of just over six years in procurement, teaching me a lot about the market and building great curiosity in the products on offer.

Are there any specific products you are looking for?

I am constantly looking for products that enhance the profile of the hotel and deliver great value.

What are some of the challenges you face in finance and purchasing today?

Controlling costs. It’s really no surprise that this problem ranks in the top three. One of the main challenges procurement professionals have in this arena is maintaining costs and achieving savings.

Tell us about one of your most successful deals?

I had an opportunity to streamline the frozen poultry contract for nine Marriott properties in the UAE, by running a tender process. We were able to achieve substantial savings for all nine properties.

What does a supplier have to do to impress you?

I look for certain qualities, primarily the supplier’s passion about the product, reliability, knowledge and flexibility. But the main quality for me in a supplier is definitely honesty and transparency.
