Radisson Blu Hotel Abu Dhabi Yas Island has cut its water heating costs by 85% by switching to solar-themodynamic panels, The National reports.

The Abu Dhabi hotel has put in place a solar installation that can heat around 45,000 litres of water a day.

The reports adds that a three-star hotel needs 40 litres of hot water a day per guest, while a four-star hotel needs 50 to 60 litres of water heated daily per person. According to the figure reported the hotel has reduced its expenses from AED300,000 a year to AED54,000 using solar thermodynamic technology on hot water costs.

In Q4 2017, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Diamond Developers have held a ground-breaking ceremony for Hotel Indigo Dubai Sustainable City, which will be 100% powered by solar energy.
