Ecolab, a cleaning and hygiene technology and services company, has been recognised by the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology (ESMA) as one of the UAE-based companies to achieve its halal certification for locally-made cleaning and sanitizing products used by domestic food and beverage manufacturers.
ESMA implements a strict regulatory framework to govern all UAE-made cleaning and sanitising products that may come in contact with ingredients and products in the domestic food sector.
The halal compliance requirements cover chemistry, materials and composition, approved safety data sheets and bi-lingual labelling.
As ESMA requires all locally-made products to be certified according to the standards of the imported products, Ecolab finished its audit process for the certification for its entire UAE-made range of products used within the food sector within four months, a statement from the company said.
