Petra Marriott Hotel has been awarded the Green Key Certification after fulfilling the environmental criteria required by the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS).

The hotel has implemented practices to preserve the environment and encourage sustainable living through the adoption of various environmentally friendly practices, a statement said.

Green Key International is an eco-label granted to hospitality facilities that are committed to an eco-friendly attitude. Organisations that are presented with this certification must adhere to a strict criteria and guidelines and are subject to regular on-property audit visits.

The hotel joins Amman Marriott Hotel and 2,900 hotels worldwide that have fulfilled the criteria.

Petra Marriott Hotel hotel manager Mahmoud Farajat said: "At Petra Marriott Hotel, all of our employees have contributed to achieving this certification by participating in an educational programme and understanding that the journey begins with small steps towards the bigger picture. We are also aware of the role towards corporate social responsibility and providing a sustainable environment for our guests, partners and families. Receiving this international certification is truly an honour.”
