Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has promoted Ahmed Issa to the position of cluster general manager of both Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi and Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi.

Issa has worked with the Shangri-La group for 15 years, amassing 30 years in the hospitality industry in total. His extensive experience in five-star luxury hotels’ food and beverage operations has led him to being a part of the pre-opening team at the Shangri‑La hotels in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

At Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi, Issa has provided his leadership and strategic planning to all departments in support of its service culture, maximised operations and guest satisfaction.  In addition to overseeing the operations of 301 rooms, he has also successfully repositioned the hotel’s food and beverage outlets by helping execute new dining concepts that aligned with the interests of the capital’s residents.

Under his expert leadership, the food-and-beverage and operations teams at Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi have garnered multiple hospitality awards, including “Best in Class Restaurant” for Sofra bld., Bord Eau, Shang Palace and Hoi An.

Speaking about his promotion, Issa expressed his excitement for the new role as the general manager for both properties: “I have managed both Traders Hotel and Shangri-La Hotel over the years. It will be an exciting journey for me to lead the teams towards achieving our goals in Abu Dhabi’s dynamic market while also promoting the capital as a must-visit lifestyle destination for all,” he said.

As a cluster general manager, Issa is responsible for directing and evaluating the day-to-day operational activities of both hotels including guest and employee satisfaction, human resources, financial performance, sales and revenue generation and delivering a return-on-investment.
