Sandro Mazza has been promoted to general manager of Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa, Muscat, Oman and will be responsible for the 180-room hotel.

Mazza has had a number of managerial roles over a 13 year period at the Shangri-La Group,  which include assistant front office manager in 2006 when he joined the company and, in 2009, the valley wing manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore.

Previous to his new role as general manager at the Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa, he was the resident manager for 18 months at the hotel’s sister property Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, also in Muscat. Previously, he was resident manager at Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives.

Other roles for the Shangri-La Group include front office manager at China World Summit Wing, Beijing, director of rooms at Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, and resident manager of Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi.

In his present role as general manager, Mazza is responsible for directing and evaluating the day-to-day activities of Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa’s 180 guest rooms, four dining outlets, wellness facilities and fitness centre.

Speaking about his promotion, Mazza said that working with the team he intends to continue to drive Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa to the next levels of luxury.  

Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts currently operates more than 100 hotels with a room inventory of more than 41,000. With hotels worldwide, the group also has a Middle East footprint in Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.  According to a Group statement, the group has a substantial development pipeline with upcoming projects in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
