The Regency Kuwait appoints Otto Kurzendorfer as GM

The Abdul Razzaq Al Sane & Sons Group of Companies has appointed Otto Kurzendorfer to lead its hotel, The Regency Kuwait.

Kurzendorfer, a German national, brings three decades of experience to the Regency Kuwait, situated in the Salmiya district of the city.

The new GM’s career began in the kitchen before moving to hotels that for part of the Leading Hotels of the World and Relais & Chateaux trophy hotels such as the Savoy in London and the Munich Mandarin Oriental.

Kurzendorfer has also work with global hotel giants Kempinski, IHG and Starwood, spending 10 years in Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Syria and Qatar before taking his first General Manager role in 2007 in Shanghai. After six years in China, he returned to Dubai for another four years to become the general manager of JA Resorts & Hotels, which included JA Palm Tree Court and JA Jebel Ali Beach Hotel.

Kurzendorfer describes his recent appointment in Kuwait has a “a lifelong dream to lead a team in a hotel offering ultimate luxury, European flair in an Arabesque setting. The Regency Kuwait is undoubtedly the crown jewel of Kuwaiti hospitality,” he said.

The Regency Kuwait, which in reopened in 2009 after a complete four-year rebuild, has 203 keys including 50 suites, food and beverage venues and recreational facilities.
