The Gulf and Indian Ocean Hotel Investors’ Summit (GIOHIS) is set to return to Abu Dhabi for its 2019 event, which will take place at the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi from February 4-5, 2019.

The summit is supported by Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, which is part of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi).
 
Organised by Hoftel, GIOHIS 2019 is set to bring together more than 250 hotel owners, developers and operators from the Gulf, East Africa, Indian Ocean islands, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region and Australia.

Discussions will cover topical issues affecting the industry such as changing investment opportunities, oversupply crunch, franchising and sector-associated economies.
 
There will be a total of 75 speakers taking part in the summit. These winclude: Muscat National Development and Investment Company CEO Khalid Al Yahmadi; Hoftel chairman & CEO Simon Allison; Abu Dhabi National Hotels CEO Khalid Anib; Hyatt regional vice president development Ludwig Bouldoukian; Airbnb serviced apartment lead EMEA Robin Clifford; and, Marriott Vacations Worldwide regional project director Ben Dedopulos, among others.

The programme for the summit will include discussions surrounding: supply and demand balance; changing investment opportunities as resort and leisure markets mature; dealing with the oversupply crunch; the issue of franchising; creating a new destination; and a debate around whether or not bigger brands make for richer owners.

There will also be a talk on what is the best hotel investment vehicle, and roundtable discussions on topics including how to benchmark F&B/meetings sales teams and the economics of owning lodges.
