Sky-high quality for in-flight caterer

Ben Watts, March 3rd, 2009

Abu Dhabi In-Flight Catering has been awarded a Gold Standard Award for 2008 for its focus on safety and quality.

The company, part of the Abu Dhabi Airport Company (ADAC), underwent a series of nine tough audits over a period of three years, in order to receive the award.

A Gold Standard Award is the highest accolade presented by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

ADAC’s In-Flight Catering general manager Paul Haines said: “We are proud to be recognised as the region’s leader for quality assured in-flight catering.

“This Gold Standard Award is a testament to the quality standards that Abu Dhabi In-Flight Catering has achieved and sustained over a number of years.”

Abu Dhabi In-Flight Catering currently produces more than 20,000 meals a day, a number expected to reach 50,000 following completions of developments at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

ADAC Chairman HE Khalifa Al Mazrouei said: “ADAC is committed to operating and maintaining facilities up to world-class standards and this result recognises the achievement of that objective for In-Flight Catering.

“Quality is about constant effort and we will continue to improve even further the process of providing the best possible services to all our airline customers and their passengers,” he added.

The catering firm has undergone rapid expansion during the last few years in order to serve UAE flag carrier Etihad Airways.
