Two chefs from Holiday Inn Express Dubai Hotels have walked away with first and second prizes in the Guru Nanak IHM International Chef’s Competition  held in Kolkata, India.

 

Samer Adnan Ahmed, head chef Holiday Inn Express Dubai Hotels won first place in the ‘Chef Category’ while Wasantha Vithanalage, head chef of the hotel’s food and beverage outlet Muchachas Mexican Cantina won second place. 

The Guru Nanak IHM International Chef’s Competition has been ongoing for the past three years. This year the competition saw 60 competitors for the International chef category, with participants from 25 countries.

According to a statement from the hotel, both chefs had to prepare a three-course meal – a main course, accompaniment, and dessert – within a two-hour time frame, including preparation and presentation.

The competition was judged by master chefs from around the world based on presentation, hygiene, garnish, taste, plating and knowledge of food.
