According to the Dubai Tourism, the emirate witnessed a 15.3 percent year-on-year increase in overnight visitors from Japan during 2018, registering 104,843 overnight visitors.
The south-east Asian country’s key drivers in travel and tourism are reportedly senior citizens and women, young females in particular.
Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai’s Corporation of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DCTCM) said, “2018 saw sustained growth from the Japanese market as we welcomed more than 100,000 overnight visitors a year for the very first time. With the market enthusiastic to learn more about the city, we will continue to work to enhance our holistic marketing efforts and strengthen our ongoing strategic partnerships with key industry leaders.”
Dubai Tourism has also partnered with H.I.S. CO., LTD, a market travel agency in Japan to provide easy access to Dubai’s travel products.
According to an earlier research, Dubai, recorded a total of 1.61 million tourists in January 2019, a rise from the 1.58 million tourists who visited in January 2018.
India was the top source market, with a total of 206,000 tourists visiting Dubai. Saudi Arabia was second on the overall list and was leading among the GCC countries with a total of 160,000 tourists.
