Are service standards high enough in GCC hotels?

April 21st, 2009

The Middle East's hotels are known and revered around the world, with properties such as the Burj Al-Arab and Emirates Palace barely ever off TV screens, but peal back the opulent shells and what lies beneath?

Does the service in these five, six and seven-star properties merit the lofty price tag? Does paying less mean getting less?

Are employees armed with enough product knowledge and, hoteliers, how well trained is the talent pool you fish from?

Do we need more hospitality schools and courses in the region or should hotel chains train their staff independently?
