Responsible for bringing a huge range of new products and technologies to the region’s hospitality industry through The Hotel Show, Maggie Moore joins the big guns on this year’s Hotelier Middle East Power 50.
Despite the economic downturn, Moore this year delivered a show that was a resounding success for both exhibitors and visitors alike.
The former The Ritz London employee claims the key to being a successful exhibition director is to possess excellent attention to detail, the ability to delegate and motivate staff and ensuring the views of exhibitors and visitors are listened to.
In her six years as The Hotel Show event director, Moore says she is proud to have kept the exhibition focused, while bringing something new to the event every year; she hopes to maintain the show’s position as one of the region’s most important exhibitions and to develop it further as the industry’s “can’t miss event”.
Moore, whose first role in the hospitality industry came in the kitchen of a local hotel in Sussex, UK, cites two people as the inspiration behind her career — DMG World Media managing director Bernard Walsh and Michael Duffell, the managing director of The Ritz London, following her time there.
While working in another London hotel, Moore was once accosted by an American guest who requested toupee tape in order to keep his wig on. “I’m not sure who was the most embarrassed, him or I,” she jokes.
