Dubai-based Merchant Star International (MSI), regional distributor for Julius Meinl coffee, has launched its dedicated training centre offering coffee-making lessons for Middle East hoteliers.
The centre, which opened today, will offer free basic barista training and refresher courses to MSI clients using Julius Meinl coffee, including Rotana and Hilton hoteliers in the MENA region, with plans to add filter coffee and other brewing programmes in the future.
“Hotel F&B departments can send staff over every week on the scheduled refresher days. We have several machines working for more hands-on training,” said MSI managing director Ali Kadkhodaei.

Kadkhodaei said the centre would alleviate the challenge of training F&B staff inhouse when faced with guests and usually only one available coffee-making machine.
Furthermore, MSI’s SCAE certified master barista Johanna Wechselberger, one of only three worldwide according to Kadkhodaei, will be present at the centre for eight months a year to offer her coffee-making expertise to hoteliers.
