Awards to recognise Highly Commended hoteliers

A new Highly Commended category is being introduced at the Hotelier Middle East Awards 2009 for the first time.

For each of the 19 Awards, from Housekeeper of the Year to Green Hotelier of the Year, there will be two Highly Commended nominees in addition to the winner.

Hotelier Middle East editor and Hotelier Middle East Awards judge Louise Oakley said: “We received more than 1500 Awards nominations this year, including 177 for Chef of the Year, 176 for General Manager of the Year and 137 for Hotelier’s Unsung Hero of the Year.

“In response to the volume and quality of nominations, we decided to introduce a Highly Commended prize for two nominees in every category.

“We hope this will help to further recognise and celebrate the achievements of the region’s dedicated industry professionals at the Hotelier Middle East Awards," said Oakley.

"The Highly Commended nominees will each receive a limited edition Hotelier Middle East Awards 2009 pin, while the winning hotelier for each category will get to take home a coveted Hotelier Middle East Awards trophy.

The shortlisted top five nominees for each of the award categories will all be revealed tomorrow, live online at HotelierMiddleEast.com
 

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on October 14, which is sponsored by fino International and is being held at Madinat Jumeirah.
