Dubai International Airport saw passenger numbers increase by nearly 20 percent in September, compared to the same month in 2008, latest figures released on Wednesday showed.
The 19.5 percent rise represented the highest monthly growth rate since October 2007 when passenger numbers rocketed 25.9 percent.
September was also the fourth consecutive month of double-digit passenger traffic growth at Dubai's airport.
The airport handled a total of 3,190,408 passengers in September compared to 2,699,806 passengers during the corresponding period last year.
A total of 30,068,739 passengers have been recorded at the airport so far this year - up 7.9 percent over the same period in 2008.
Cargo growth remained stable in September with an increase of 2.75 percent.
“We’re seeing strong growth across all regions. While many airports worldwide continue to see traffic shrink, in Dubai business is good,” said Paul Griffiths, Dubai Airports CEO in a statement.
