TRIED & TESTED: Phoenix House, London

Jamie Knights , October 29th, 2009

BACKGROUND:

The award winning Phoenix House is a five-star property boasting 33 luxury apartments within a couple of minutes walk from Chelsea’s chic boutique designer shops, bustling Sloane Street and Sloane Square.

THE ARRIVAL:

Located off Sloane Square, you are in no doubt that you are staying in the right part of London. Boutique stores and top brands litter the surrounding streets.

The concierge was superb, answering all questions and making you feel instantly welcome. Within minutes you are checked in and being shown around your room. You are left in no doubt that you will be looked after and that no request is too much.

ACCOMMODATION:

The duplex was light, modern and so wonderfully unfussy you couldn’t help but unwind as soon as you walked in from walking around London’s top shops.

Boasting an open plan kitchen and lounge, the welcome products included all the essentials including eggs, bread, coffee and juice.

The stairs led down to the large bedroom and en-suite bathroom, with the entire Duplex boasting floor to ceiling windows with electric curtains.

The bed was incredibly comfy and the temptation to stay in it was too great on a number of occasions.

F&B:

Le Cercle is part of Club Gascon and it soon becomes clear you are in very safe hands.

Guests at Pheonix House have access to the restaurant with a private key and entrance although food can be delivered to your apartment if requested.

The setting, despite being in a cellar is light and sensitively designed. Although intimate in its arrangement, there is a mezzanine level for those who would like to be seen.

Combining modern touches with rustic undertones, the place feels genuine without being pretentious.

However, it is the food that is the star, the majority of which is presented tapas style, allowing a number of dishes to be ordered and sampled.

I was impressed with what arrived, each dish packed full of flavour and some fantastic suprises to boot.

EDITOR’S VERDICT:

Pheonix House is perfect for clients who want flexibility, privacy and space in the heart of London.

Whether your client is heading to the UK capital for business or pleasure you need to be pitching this property.

Admittedly not ideal for large families, the focus will be on business travellers, couples and small families.

The location is superb, but the quality of the property really stands out. Furthermore, there is not a great deal of properties in that area of London that offers the same product.

A perfect base for a longer stay or a week long holiday, guests can relax knowing they are receiving the five-star service of a hotel, but having the privacy to relax and have a home away from home.
