Hot new Jumeirah Golf Estate’s Fire course was officially opened this week by golfer Lee Westwood, who returned to the club following his success as winner of last November’s Dubai World Championships.
The Fire course, designed by legendary golfer Greg Norman, was conceived in order to provide golfers at the Jumeirah club with a radically different playing experience to its sister course Earth, which played host to the Dubai World Championship.
Norman explained his landscaped design concept as “harnessing the stark beauty of the desert" and "designed to reflect the local surroundings".
Features include vast areas of informal bunkering, narrow fairways, and wall-to-wall varieties of grass.
"I believe these elements will combine to create an equally stunning golf course, but also an equally challenging course from a player’s perspective,” Norman added.
Members of Jumeirah Golf Estates can now enjoy both courses, which together give players a choice over their preferred game style.
