WORD OF THE DAY: Borborygmus

Hotelier Middle East Staff, February 17th, 2010

Borborygmus: (n) a rumbling sound made by gas in the intestines

In a sentence:

Waiter: Sir, I’m afraid we are going to have to ask you to leave.

Guest: What on earth for, I’m listening to the singer.

Waiter: Unfortunately sir the other guests are trying to listen to the singer but your borborygmi (plural) are so loud they are interrupting the performance.

Guest: How dare you, you can’t hear a thing!

Waiter: Sir, your last borborygmus made the dessert trolley shake, one lady fell backwards off of her chair it was so violent.
