Mulct: To defraud or fine someone

In a sentence:

Pot washer: Where did you get that Rolex from?

Waiter: I mulcted it from a guest.

Pot washer: How did you do that?

Waiter: I told him it was illegal to look at your food when eating on a Wednesday in this country.

Pot washer: And he believed you?

Waiter: Yes, he was doing quite well not looking at his food and I thought I wasn’t going to be able to blackmail him, so I swapped what he thought was cheesecake for a bowl of tripe.

Pot washer: You are terrible.

Waiter: Where I come from there is a saying, ‘I mulct therefore I am’.
