Cachinnate: (v) to laugh loudly or immoderately
In a sentence:
Events manager: Go and tell the audience to stop cachinnating.
Waiter: Sir, they are just enjoying the show.
Events manager: But the show isn’t meant to be funny.
Waiter: Really? Then why did the opera singer fall over into the orchestra pit?
Events manager: That wasn’t meant to happen.
Waiter: Nobody seems to care.
Events manager: The GM does because the opera singer is his wife. It’s not over until the fat lady sings, but it is definitely over for all of us if we don’t stop the audience cachinnating.
