Top hotels targets for foiled attack in Pakistan

Two Taliban militants were arrested while planning to attack top hotels and kidnap diplomats in Pakistan.

The two men, reportedly deserters from a government paramilitary force, were arrested in a hotel in Rawalpindi, said Islamabad Police Chief Bin Yamin.

One of the arrested men, wearing a black hood, spoke to reporters at a police station and said their targets included five-star hotels and a club for Westerners, although specific names of targets weren’t given.

The militant also claimed the pair had helped plan and coordinate previous attacks in the region.

Pakistani officials are heading to Washington, US for bilateral talks and to demand more help in the country’s fight against terrorism, which has claimed the lives of more than 2000 Pakistani soldiers.
