Burj Khalifa reopens to public after maintenance

Andrew White, April 5th, 2010

The Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, has reopened to the public almost two months after elevator problems left passengers stranded on the 124th floor.

The observation deck at the summit of the tower reopened at 1pm on Saturday, staff at the site told Arabian Business.

Visitors were able to buy tickets as normal Sunday, however a staff member said that tickets must now be prebooked in person at Dubai Mall and could not be booked online.

In February the tower’s developer Emaar Properties announced the closure of the observation deck for “maintenance”, citing technical issues with the power supply.

A trip up to the observation deck costs AED100 ($27) for adults and AED75 for children when booked in advance.
