Hundreds of flights have been cancelled or delayed by a cloud of ash from an Icelandic volcano sweeping across Western Europe.
Airports in Spain and Italy have closed with some of the countries’ airspace being forced to shut down.
It was reported that an average of 600 flights make the Atlantic crossing every day, but the disruption could spread into the week.
Flights from the UK to Spain, France and Portugal were being affected and all eyes are now focused on analysis of the volcano, which shows signs of intensifying in activity.
