Jumeirah's Essex House hotel in New York has announced the launch of a Canine Turndown Programme designed to pamper four-legged guests.

The hotel run by the Dubai-based hotel group has partnered with doggie designer to the stars, Amy Kizer of the Wagwear New York City boutique, to create luxurious five-star canine amenities, the company said in a statement.

Jumeirah Essex House in-room amenities, which are offered 365 days a year, include a Wagwear dog bed or Wagwear "Tee Pee Hound Lounge" - a miniature pop-up tent with fleece-lined bed.

The service also includes homemade dog treats created by the hotel's executive pastry chef, Wagwear food and water bowls accompanied by a matching placemat and a gift bag complete with a Jumeirah Essex House logoed fleece blanket.

Specialised doggie hospitality attendants are also available to treat pets to freshly-drawn water throughout the day and lay out their fleece blanket ready for their return to the room.
