Hotelier Middle East Staff, September 28th, 2010

Chef Christophe Prud'homme was named Chef of the Year at the Caterer Middle East Awards last night.

A popular and highly talented figure in the region’s culinary scene, he has shown exceptional skill and was recently named as Maitre Cuisinier de France, one of the most sought after and prestigious awards in the international culinary world.

A chef with a big personality, Christophe is committed to staff training and improvement.

Judge Michael Kitts, director of culinary arts at the Emirates Academy, said of him: “What he has done is unbelievable. He has got a massive job and yet he is so down to earth”.

Prud'homme was presented with his award by Dany Abi Khalil, Middle East sales director, Lactalis — the sponsor of the Chef of the Year Award — during a glamorous ceremony at Park Hyatt Dubai.

He said: "I'm thrilled and very happy for myself, my family and company. This is a big achievement for my career, this is a result of long hard years of work".

Prud'homme commended his team and said the award was the 80 chefs at Al Bustan Rotana.

"My message is you get what you want in your life as long as you work very hard, you are honest with yourself and your entourage and basically, you cannot deceive your entourage, you support your entourage, you have to work very hard for them and you give them what you feel yourself in your heart," he added.

Highly commended in the category was Harald Oberender of Dubai World Trade Centre and Ryu Sato Gardiner at Okku Luxury Japanese Restaurant and Lounge.
