Laundry Manager of the Year comes out in the wash

Sponsored by Diversey Gulf, Laundry Manager of the Year at the Hotelier Middle East Awards on Thursday went to Ebrahim Kanjaroli (Mr Ebrahim) from the Doha Marriott hotel.

Ebrahim joined the Doha Marriott in the Laundry Department in 1980 and his dedication and humility over the past 30 years overwhelmed the judges.

He has gone from processing five tonnes of laundry a day in 1980 to managing a team of 150 and processing more than 24 tonnes of laundry a day, and despite achieving his goal of opening a new unit this year, has more dreams to follow, aiming eventually to process 70 tonnes of laundry every day.

On winning the award he said: "It’s thanks to the support of my management and my team that I have won this award tonight. I am very proud of myself and my team. It's a big team - we are 160 staff now. But we all support each other and I’m always listening to them and dicussing their ideas with them. My dream is to aim for 70 tonnesof laundry per day. We can do that is we work 24 hours per day, but then we will never get to sleep." 

Raj Kapoor Gangta from Renaissance Dubai Hotel and T Chandran Thanggaraja from Park Rotana Abu Dhabi were Highly Commended.
