Engineering Person of the Year constructs win

Sakher Al Karmi from Southern Sun Al Manzil and Qamardeen Hotels bagged the Hotel Engineering Person of the Year award at last Thursday's Hotelier Middle East Awards.

Sponsored by Raymond Sport, the award was presented for Al Karmi's love of learning and his commitment to improving both his own skills and those of his team.

His achievements at Al Manzil and Qamardeen are wide ranging, and both hotels have been recognised by Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing as being among the city’s best in terms of carbon-footprint reduction.

A delighted Al Karmi said: “This is my great achievement. I planned for this for five years. I’ve been in this job for 22 years and this is my great moment.”

Ibrahim Ahmed Al Zahrani, Riyadh Conference Palace and Wael Farouk, Courtyard by Marriott & Marriott Executive Apartments, Green Community Dubai were both highly commended.
