Concierge of the Year makes great impression

Hotelier Middle East Staff, October 17th, 2010

The Concierge of the Year Award 2010 went to Royston D'Silva from Al Qasr, Madinat Jumeirah at the Hotelier Awards on Thursday night.

The judges were impressed with all the concierge nominations but D'Silva stood out from the other nominees as a result of the many self-initiated projects he had conceived and led to fruition.

From personally training Madinat Jumeriah drivers on the verbiage for a personalised city tour to introducing facial sprays and water stations for his team, Royston had both increased revenue at his hotel and improved staff morale.

D'Silva said: "I would say that being very naughty is one of the qualities you need to be a good concierge. You keep cracking jokes, having fun, being cheeky,  and enjoying yourself with your colleagues and making the guest feel at home."

Mohamed Yassin Abo El Magd, Semiramis InterContinental Cairo and Ronald Sahagun, InterContinental DohaAllywn D'Cunha, Raffles Hotel Dubai were both highly commended.
