Qantas Airways says tests are still being carried out on its A380 fleet, following an uncontained explosion on the A380 flight from Singapore last Thursday.

Following advice from engine manufacturer Rolls Royce, as well as Airbus, Singapore Airlines has become the second carrier to ground its A380 fleet.

"Our engine manufacturer Rolls Royce and aircraft manufacturer Airbus have advised us to conduct precautionary technical checks on our A380 aircraft, following the incident involving another operator's A380," Nicholas Ionides, Singapore Airlines' vice president for public affairs, said in a statement, according to Reuters.

No injuries to passengers travelling on the affected plane were reported, but it returned to Singapore as a precaution.

Qantas spokesman Simon Rushton said the company was still not in a position to say when their A380 fleet would be back in the air.
